Week Seventeen – decorating the Christmas cakes
Week seventeen and this week is devoted to the endless task of decorating the Christmas cakes made last week.
These are going to be gifts for friends and family and it’s so close to Christmas that if they read this and see the photos it won’t matter too much.
I would also like to take this opportunity to thank family and friends for the endless support in the last two weeks when I have been to hell and back with a health scare. The news is better than I feared and now I am looking forward to spending the Chriatmas period in the company of those I love and cherish- after all , that is the underlying spirit of christmas.
To all who read this, I wish you a Happy Christmas where ever you are and a peaceful New Year.
Jacob Sutton’s LED Snowboarder
This is just one of the most amazing clips i’ve probably seen on YouTube.
A Night-time Snowboarding Short Lights Up the Last of the Winter Snow
Fashion photographer and filmmaker Jacob Sutton swaps the studio for the slopes of Tignes in the Rhône-Alpes region of south-eastern France, with a luminous after hours short starring Artec Pro snowboarder William Hughes. The electrifying film sees Hughes light up the snow-covered French hills in a bespoke L.E.D. enveloped suit courtesy of designer and electronics whizz John Spatcher. “I was really drawn to the idea of a lone character made of light surfing through darkness,” says Sutton of his costume choice. “I’ve always been excited by unusual ways of lighting things, so it seemed like an exciting idea to make the subject of the film the only light source.” Sutton, who has created work for the likes of Hermès, Burberry and The New York Times, spent three nights on a skidoo with his trusty Red Epic camera at temperatures of -25C to snap Hughes carving effortlessly through the deep snow, even enlisting his own father to help maintain the temperamental suit throughout the demanding shoot. “Filming in the suit was the most surreal thing I’ve done in 20 years of snowboarding,” says Hughes of the charged salopettes. “Luckily there was plenty of vin rouge to keep me warm, and Jacob’s enthusiasm kept everyone going through the cold nights.”
What a c*ck up
This could be considered a F$%^ up in the traditional sense. Unless you live in South Africa, then it is merely par for the course.

Only in South Africa !!!
Only in South Africa can they get away with adverts like this……
Why don’t we get Nando’s adverts like this in the UK?
Actually, this advert has now been pulled due to threats to Nando’s staff, management and customers in Zimbabwe…..
Keeping it up!!!
We went, we survived and then returned!!!
So not only did we have a fantastic trip to Canada, but we managed to actually keep a blog going and to those who followed it, a big thank you… It was nice to know people read it… :0)
What next? Well now that we are back in the UK do we keep this blog going? What do you think? Are you all really that interested in what we have to say? LOL Answers on a postcard to….
Well seeing the name is Lullingstone Photography, then maybe it would be right to keep the site going, but now focus mainly on not just photography, but also on the NCFE Photography course which Lewis is doing over the next year.
Maybe there are subject matters you’d like to read about or maybe you’d like to see my views on suggested topics…
Watch this space and let’s see how this develops.
Blog…. A What?
Kim and I welcome you to something that apparently they call a blog.
An English friend on mine who lives in South Africa, Andrew Stevenson, has eventually persuaded me to create a blog.
So what is the purpose of our blog?
To be honest I’m not sure really, but I didn’t want to create a blog, just for the sake of it. So our first experience into blogging will be whilst we are on our Canadian travels as we embark on the “holiday of a lifetime”.
So what else are we going to bore you, whoops sorry excite you, with? Well we both have a great love for Photography and also a great love of German Shepherd dogs, of which we have 2.
All we ask for is a little patience while we figure this blogging business out and we hope you’ll join us in our travels to the stunning Canadian Rockies……
